Stoke City have endured a mediocre campaign so far and have been struggling to build on their fine season from last year.
The Potters are currently in 13th position in the Premier League and although they are close to the teams above them challenging for a top half finish, it also has to be stated that they are perilously close to the drop zone.
Therefore, Stoke need to be claiming a couple of points soon in order to make their way up the table rather than be sucked into the relegation mire and the next few months will be very important for Mark Hughes’ side.
In a bid to provide a boost to his squad, it is believed that Hughes is pondering reinforcing the ranks at his disposal by dipping into the January transfer market and according to reports emerging out of England, the Welshman is lining up an ambitious swoop for Barcelona wonderkid Sergio Roberto.
Roberto is rated by highly by the Barcelona hierarchy and has been tipped to stake a regular claim in the Barcelona team during the coming years.

Having already broken in to the first team, Roberto has made a good impression. However, with the plethora of stars currently at Barcelona’s disposal, Roberto’s involvement in the first team has been limited.
Barcelona are more than happy to allow Roberto to leave the club on loan in order to continue his development and now it is believed that Stoke City have placed their interest in signing the young midfielder.
Stoke already possess two Barcelona products in their ranks in the form of Marc Muniesa and Bojan, and it is believed that Hughes will be looking to tempt Roberto to join his side as well.
Hughes is hopeful of landing Roberto on a six month loan deal and there is certainly a big possibility that the Potters will be able to secure the signing of the young man.
