Southampton FC looking to offload striker to finance Eder move

Southampton are reportedly looking to offload bad-boy Dani Osvaldo in order to finance a move for Sampdoria star Eder. Osvaldo was recently suspended by the Saints for allegedly assaulting Jose Fonte in training and reports have emerged that the club are looking to sell the player before the end of the transfer window.

Inter Milan are reportedly interested in bringing back Osvaldo to Italy and Southampton are said to be ready to cut their losses on the striker by selling him for a price lower than the £15million splashed on the 27-year old just six months ago.

The potential departure of Osvaldo would leave the Saints short on options in attack and it has now emerged that manager Mauricio Pochettino has already identified a replacement for the striker in form of Sampdoria star Eder.

Although not an out-and-out striker, the Brazilian has been in fine form for the Italian side this season scoring 9 goals in 16 appearances. It is believed that a bid of around £10million would be enough to tempt Sampdoria to with part with the player and the Saints are looking to use the funds raised by the sale of Osvaldo to Inter.

The 27-year old can play upfront as well as on the wings and would certainly fit into the system at Southampton. The tricky player has been an integral part of the Sampdoria side since joining the club last season and there have been suggestions that Eder may win a place in the Brazilian National squad for the upcoming World Cup if he is able to maintain his current form till the end of the season.

With Gaston Ramirez set to be out for a couple of months and Osvaldo proving to be a ticking time-bomb rather than an asset, the arrival of Eder will welcomed by the Saints’ faithful.
