It had been sensationally reported that Manchester United had agreed a deal in-principle with Everton to sign star player Seamus Coleman for £15million in the summer.
Considering that Coleman has arguably been the most impressive full back in the Premier League this season allied by the fact that David Moyes was the man who brought the defender to England during his time as Everton manager, it was believed that the rumor might well have some substance behind it.
However, Everton manager Roberto Martinez has quickly moved on rubbish the reports claiming that the 25-year old has agreed a move to Old Trafford and assured the fans that the Irishman is set to remain at Goodison Park for the foreseeable future.
Speaking to reporters, Martinez addressed the rumors by saying, “It must be a different Seamus Coleman [being linked with Manchester United] because we’ve never had any conversations with anyone.
“The truth is Seamus has been having a very good season and we want that to continue. We want Seamus to be here for a very long time.”
Coleman has been in sensational form this season and has been an integral part of Everton’s success. The Republic of Ireland international has made 26 league appearances during the current campaign and has sensationally scored 6 goals from right-back.
The 25-year old was signed by Everton from Sligo Rovers for a meager fee of around only for £60,000 in 2009 and has amassed over 100 appearances for the Toffees.
