Liverpool FC leading the race to sign Granit Xhaka

Premier League side Liverpool are in pole position to secure the services of Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka, according to reports

Liverpool are very likely to miss out on Champions League football once again next season and even earning a place in the Europa League is looking like a challenging task for the Reds at the moment.

Given the size of Liverpool, they are expected to be mounting a challenge for a European place next season and manager Jurgen Klopp will be backed in the transfer market this summer by the club in order to allow him to significantly strengthen his squad.

As a result, a host of names have already started being linked with a move to Liverpool in recent times and Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka has been widely mentioned as a target for the Reds.

Xhaka likely to join Liverpool

Recently, Liverpool were given a huge encouragement to pursue Xhaka in the summer after admitting that he would be tempted by a move to the Premier League next season.

Xhaka had told Sky Germany, “I think everybody has a dream. Everybody has a childhood dream and that’s my childhood dream. If it comes true remains to be seen, and at the moment I cannot say how realistic it is.”

Now in a further development to the story, it can be revealed that Liverpool are in pole position to secure the services of Xhaka and that the Reds are ready to splash in excess of £20million in order to land the coveted Swiss international.
