LFC Managing director Ian Ayre has informed Liverpool supporters that the club have a succession plan should their star player Luis Suarez leave Anfield this summer. Brendan Rodgers and his backroom staff do not wish for the 26-year-old Uruguayan international to leave.
Ayre told Bloomberg in a recent interview;
“We’d love to see Luis put on a Liverpool shirt for this season and beyond and we hope that once he gets back things will settle down.”
Winner Sports can now reveal that should Luis Suarez hand in a transfer request and leave Anfield, then Ian Ayre will make a £20 Million pound move for Porto and Colombian international Jackson Martínez.
Martínez was prolific during Porto’s last domestic league campaign netting 26 goals in 30 appearances. The 26-year-old also has an impressive goal per game ratio at international level scoring eight goals in eighteen international appearances.
Martínez signed with Porto for £6.5m in 2012 and thought a bid in the region of £20m would be accepted by the Portuguese club who are suffering from financial difficulties.
With 11 goals in 12 matches, he beat the record of former Porto strikers Radamel Falcao, Lisandro López and Hulk. He became known as “Jackshow Martínez” by a journalist named João Ruela
