Charlton Athletic are set to appoint club legend Lennie Lawrence as the club’s new director of football, according to reports
Lawrence is one of the very select few managers in professional football to have overseen over 1000 matches and he is a true legend at Charlton Athletic, having managed nearly 400 games at the club between 1982 and 1991.
Lawrence has also managed the likes of Middlesbrough, Bradford City, Luton Town, Grimsby Town Cardiff City and Crystal Palace throughout his illustrious career but is now currently out of work since departure from Nottingham Forest following the sacking of manager Dougie Freedman.
Given his passion for football, many knew that Lawrence would not be out of the game for long and now the veteran is set to return to Charlton – this time as the director of football at the club.
According to reports, Charlton want Lawrence to be a part of the mass board level structure changes set to take place at the club and are keen on using his experience to appoint a capable head of recruitment.
