Queens Park Rangers are eyeing a move for Stoke City striker Peter Crouch
Queens Park Rangers have had to get rid of most of their high wage earners this summer following their relegation into the Championship and it is expected that a couple more players will be exiting Loftus Road before the end of the transfer window in a week’s time.
One player who looks all but certain to leave is star striker Charlie Austin, as the striker is being courted by a host of Premier League clubs.
While QPR seemingly have already prepared for life after Austin by securing the services of Tjaronn Chery, Sebastian Polter, Jamie Mackie and Jay-Emmanuel Thomas this summer, it is widely believed that the Hoops will be making a swoop for another striker before the end of the transfer window.
Now sources close to QPR have told Winner Sports that the Championship side are plotting a move to bring back Peter Crouch to Loftus Road.
Crouch is currently plying his trade for Stoke City and had only signed a new two year deal with the Potters in January last season.
However, the striker has not featured at all in the Premier League during the current campaign and he seems to be down the pecking order at the club behind the likes of Mame Biram Diouf, Bojan and Joselu.
As a result, Crouch has been tipped to exit the Britannia Stadium this summer and a surprise move back to Loftus Road could be on the cards for the 34-year old.
Crouch enjoyed a successful spell with QPR back in 2000 and despite his advancing years, he would certainly prove to be a useful addition to the Hoops’ side.
