Reading are set to further bolster their attacking lineup with the signing of Latvian international Deniss Rakels for a fee of around £500,000
Reading are currently 11 points off of a play off place but manager Brian McDermott is keen on ramping up the Royals’ promotion hopes and has been very active in the January transfer window so far.
Bolstering the attack has been a priority for McDermott and he has already snapped up the services of duo George Evans and Yann Kermorgant this month.
Now in another attacking swoop, it can be revealed that Reading are on the verge of securing the services of Latvian international Deniss Rakels.
Rakels is currently plying his trade for Polish side Cracovia and has been enjoying a fantastic season so far after finding the back of the net on 15 occasions in just 25 appearances.
As a result, Rakels had been attracting the interest from a host of teams around Europe and now Reading seem to have won the race to sign the 23-year old.
It can be revealed that Reading’s offer of around £500,000 for Rakels has been accepted and the Latvian international is expected to arrive at the Madejski Stadium within the next 48 hours.
