Chelsea are ready to spend big in order to lure Romelu Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge, according to reports from the Sun
Lukaku joined Chelsea from Anderlecht during the summer of 2011 with the reputation as one of the finest young strikers in the world but the Belgian did not enjoy a happy stay at the club.
Lukaku did not get a chance for regular first team football at Chelsea and while he had impressed during two separate loan spells at West Bromwich Albion and Everton, the Blues decided to dispense with the services of the striker during the summer of 2014.
Eventually, Lukaku made a move to Everton for £28million and since his switch to Goodison Park, he has gone on to prove himself as arguably the best young striker around in world football at the moment.
Lukaku has enjoyed a terrific campaign this term, scoring 23 goals in all competitions already and it has been no surprise to see a host of top clubs once again showing interest in the 22-year old.
Now according to reports from the Sun, claims have been made that Chelsea are interested in re-signing Lukaku in the summer. It is expected that Antonio Conte will be arriving as the next permanent manager of Chelsea and the Italian wants to bring in a high profile striker to the club.
Mauro Icardi has been mentioned as the main target for Conte but the Chelsea hierarchy want to present him with an alternative in the form of Lukaku and the Blues are ready to splash as much as £56million to sign the Belgian international.
