Chelsea are ramping up their pursuit to secure the services of Valencia defender Aymen Abdennour, according to reports emerging out of France
Despite being 35, John Terry still remains an integral part of the Chelsea side and the defender looks like he has enough mileage to play at the top level for a couple of more seasons.
That said though, Chelsea will be aware of the fact that Terry cannot go on forever and are said to be actively identifying an able long term replacement for their inspirational skipper.
Signing Crystal Palace star Scott Dann was said to be high on the priority list for Chelsea but now another player in the form of Aymen Abdennour has emerged as a target for the Blues.
According to reports emerging out of France, it has been claimed that Chelsea are keen on signing Abdennour and are ready to splash in excess of £20million to land the services of the 26-year old.
Chelsea were interested in Abdennour during the summer as well but the defender decided to make a move to Spanish giants Valencia instead.
However, Abdennour has not enjoyed the best of periods at the Mestalla so far and Valencia are said to be open to listening to offers for the Tunisian international as he has failed to impress manager Gary Neville.
As a result, Chelsea are set to revisit their pursuit for Abdennour and are hopeful of sealing the deal for the defender this month.
