Brighton and Hove Albion still stand a very good chance of securing the services of top target Sebastien Pocognoli
Brighton and Hove Albion have been in the market to sign a new left back for a while now and it was recently reported that the Seagulls were considering a move for Sheffield Wednesday outcast Rhoys Wiggins.
However, Wednesday are unlikely to be conducting any business with their direct promotion rivals and as a result, Brighton have been forced to look at targets elsewhere.
It can now be revealed that Brighton have reignited their interest in signing West Bromwich Albion defender Sebastien Pocognoli.
Pocognoli has barely featured for West Bromwich Albion under Tony Pulis and while the Belgian did put in an impressive performance during the Baggies’ midweek FA Cup victory over Bristol City, he still seems destined for a January exit from the Hawthorns.
Pulis had said regarding Pocognoli’s transfer status, “There’s nine days to go (in this transfer window) so we’ll see. Poc did OK considering he hasn’t played for a while, I thought he came in and did alright. He’s desperate to play football, we understand that.”
Brighton have long been linked with a move for Pocognoli and with the signing of Wiggins unlikely, manager Chris Hughton is expected to ramp up his pursuit for the 28-year old in the coming days.
