Andre Villas-Boas has wasted no time in dismissing Arsenal’s hopes of rescuing their season. The Tottenham boss enjoyed a 2-1 victory over their north London rivals on Sunday thanks to goals from Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon.

AVB now believes Arsenal’ will have an almighty task to rescue their season by finishing fourth and qualifying for the Champions League after losing three of their last four games.

“They are on a low and for them to jump back will very difficult.”

Andre Villas-Boas

Villas-Boas gloated: “They are now in a negative spiral in terms of results – it will be extremely difficult for them to get out of it.

“This time last year Arsenal made the difference of seven points and we know how it finished. Now the motivation is the difference.

“We are extremely confident, they are on a low and for them to jump back will very difficult.”
