Championship high flyers Brighton and Hove Albion are eyeing a move for Sheffield Wednesday left back Rhoys Wiggins, according to reports
Wiggins arrived at Sheffield Wednesday from Charlton Athletic only this summer but has had first team football hard to come by at Hillsborough due to the presence of Czech Republic international Daniel Pudil ahead of him in the pecking order.
The recent addition of Joe Bennett on loan from Aston Villa has now pushed Wiggins further down the pecking order at Brighton and it is widely expected that the left back will be leaving Wednesday before the conclusion of the January transfer window.
Despite his struggles at Hillsborough, there are a host of clubs that have expressed their interest in signing Wiggins and now according to reports, claims have been made that Brighton and Hove Albion are leading the race to sign the 28-year old.
Manager Chris Hughton is looking to strengthen his side in order to aid Brighton’s promotion push and has now reportedly eyed up a move for Wiggins as reinforcement in defence.
While it is clear to see that Wiggins does not feature in the plans of Sheffield manager Carlos Carvalhal, the Portuguese boss may well be a bit hesitant in allowing the defender to leave for their direct promotion rivals.
