Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers are close to securing the services of duo Nicolai Boilesen and John Akinde, according to reports emerging out of England
Wolverhampton Wanderers have enjoyed a decent first half to the Championship season and stand an outside chance of claiming one of the playoff positions this season.
However, many feel that Wolves may well have squandered the opportunity to earn promotion after selling star striker Benik Afobe to Bournemouth recently.
The loss of Afobe can surely be seen as a huge blow for Wolverhampton but nonetheless, they did receive a hefty £12million in exchange for the striker and manager Kenny Jackett will now be looking to reinvest the funds to strengthen his squad.
Now according to reports emerging out of England, Wolves are set to soon complete a major double swoop by securing the services of Nicolai Boilesen and John Akinde.
Boilesen is a Danish international who is currently plying his trade for Dutch giants Ajax. However, the defender’s future at the Amsterdam Arena had been put into doubt as he has not signed an extension to his contract which expires at the end of the season.
As a result, Ajax are keen on cashing in on Boilesen rather than lose him for free and it has been claimed that the Dutch side have accepted Wolves’ bid of around £300,000 for the 23-year old.
Another player whom Wolves are close to signing is Barnet striker John Akinde. Akinde has been in fine form for Barnet in League Two this season, scoring 10 goals in 25 appearances so far and Jackett is believed to have viewed the 26-year old as an ideal replacement for Afobe.
