Sunderland are set to follow up their signing of Jan Kirchhoff by securing the services of Lamine Kone, according to reports from the Sunderland Echo
Strengthening the backline was clearly the priority for Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce during the January transfer window and the 61-year old has wasted no time whatsoever in moving on to secure the services of Jan Kirchhoff from Bayern Munich.
Kirchhoff is set to arrive on an 18 month deal at the Stadium of Light for a fee of around £750,000 and his signing can certainly be seen as a huge coup for the Black Cats.
In addition to Kirchhoff, Allardyce is keen on signing another defender as well and reports from the Sunderland Echo have claimed that the Black Cats’ boss has now set his sights on completing a deal for Lamine Kone.
Allardyce had revealed last month that he was interested in signing Kone in Janaury and now is ready to focus his attention to getting a deal for the 26-year old done, after having concluded his business with Kirchhoff.
Kone has been one of the most consistent defenders in the French Ligue 1 with FC Lorient and Allardyce is said to be ready to splash as much as £5million in order to secure the services of the Senegalese international.
