Premier League trio Liverpool, Arsenal and Everton look set to miss out on the signing of French star Yoann Gourcuff
After breaking into the Rennes side back in 2003 as a young teenager, Yoann Gourcuff was hailed as the next Zinedine Zidane by many and given his outrageous talent, such comparisons seemed to be understandable.
Unfortunately though, it has to be said that Gourcuff has come nowhere near the achievements of the legendary France midfielder.
Despite playing on a consistent basis for the likes of AC Milan, Bordeaux and Lyon, Gourcuff never really managed to reach the heights that were expected of him and the midfielder was eventually released by Lyon last season following an injury hit five years at the Stade Gerland.
Surprisingly no club made a play for Gourcuff throughout the summer and at 29, the midfielder already seemed to have found himself at the crossroads of his career.
Following the end of the transfer window though, Gourcuff has attracted the interest from a host of clubs and it was reported that Premier League trio Liverpool, Arsenal and Everton were all interested in signing the midfielder.
Despite interest from so many big clubs though, it has now been revealed that Gourcuff has decided to join his boyhood club Rennes instead.
It is believed that Gourcuff has already agreed a deal with Rennes and the official announcement of his signing is expected to be made today.
