DEAL CLOSE: Charlton Athletic to sign Arsenal FC winger Serge Gnabry

Championship strugglers Charlton Athletic are set to win the race to secure the services of Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry

Gnabry joined West Bromwich Albion on a season long loan deal at the start of the current campaign but the winger failed to impress manager Tony Pulis and was limited to only 3 appearances in all competitions at the Hawthorns.

Given his lack of playing time, Arsenal decided to recall Gnabry during the January transfer window and another loan move had been touted for the young German.

Arsenal were believed to be in talks with Fulham over a potential deal on deadline day but the move evidently did not come into fruition.

Nonetheless, Gnabry is still being linked with a move away from Arsenal on loan as a host of Championship clubs are keen on landing the 20-year old upon the reopening of the loan window.

Now according to reports, it can be revealed that Championship strugglers Charlton Athletic are set to secure the services of Gnabry on a loan deal.

Charlton Athletic have a very good relationship with Arsenal and have successfully landed the likes of Francis Coquelin and Yaya Sanogo on temporary deals during the past few years.

Charlton are hopeful that the relationship will help them to secure the services of Gnabry as well and the transfer is expected to come into fruition within the next couple days.
